The next phase of community engagement for the BP Meats site

Thanks to everyone who has been involved in our discussion around the future use(s) of 67 and 67a Rue Lavaud (the BP Meats site) to date.

At their 7 April meeting, Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board asked for further engagement with the community, more specifically a deeper dive into the feedback received during early engagement - including what a community hub as part of a mixed-use site looks like.

As a reminder, the key themes (and number in support out of 100 respondents) heard through early engagement on options for the site’s future land use/s were –

  • Keeping the butcher on the site (67)
  • Community use (60)
  • Residential use (39)
  • Retail and commercial services (39)
  • Car parking (29)

Come to a community workshop!

We’re going to be hosting two workshops to deepen our understanding of what we heard through early engagement – to help inform a presentation to the Community Board on a shortlist of options for us to consult the community on.

At these workshops, we’ll start by presenting community feedback and other relevant information received to date, and then all attendees will have the opportunity to move around the room and feed into whatever discussions they feel are relevant to them (e.g. what you think a community hub needs to provide for). Because of the style of workshop, please make it to the beginning of one of the sessions, but you don’t have to stay for the whole time. Both sessions will cover the same content.

Date: Thursday 5 June 2025

Time: 2:30pm – 4:30pm or 5:00pm -7pm

Where: Gaiety Hall

If you can’t make it to either of these sessions but would like to talk about the project or if you have any questions, feel free to contact staff.
