Description of proposed activity:

Application to Christchurch City Council

RMA/2025/2656: the deconstruction of the 1887 Akaroa wharf; partial deconstruction of the associated abutment; and provision of a replacement wharf (the relevant portions which are landward of Mean High Water Springs (MHWS)); including earthworks and associated temporary construction laydown areas.

CRC260822: to remove or demolish a structure; erection and placement of a structure; disturb the foreshore and seabed; to emit noise in the Coastal Marine Area; to occupy the Coastal Marine Area; to reclaim the Coastal Marine Area (165m2) at Akaroa Wharf.

CRC260824: to discharge construction-phase stormwater and contaminants to land.

A consent duration of 35 years is sought for the long-term occupation of the Coastal Marine Area at the Akaroa Wharf and associated structures. A consent duration of five years is sought for the construction phase of works which includes the discharge construction phase stormwater and contaminants to land and the occupation of the Coastal Marine Area (CMA) with the temporary barge berth pocket.
