The Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board decided to approve Selwyn Street pedestrian safety improvements, on 10 July 2025.

What happens next?

Pedestrian safety improvements at the Selwyn Street intersections of Roker Street, Cooke Street, Leitch Street, Dunn Street, Stenness Avenue and Somerfield Street are planned to begin late 2025/early 2026.

The new raised pedestrian crossing outside Christchurch South Karamata Intermediate School will be installed mid to late 2026 following the installation of a new wastewater pipe on Selwyn Street.
