Antigua StreetActivity Street, providing a link for cyclists between the central city and the Quarryman’s Trail major cycle route. Motorists connecting to local businesses, car parking facilities and the hospital area. It is anticipated that the Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre will generate more traffic (all modes) using Antigua to access this facility.Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. It is expected that there will be a significant increase in pedestrian and coach traffic for large events.Street layout changes using horizontal and vertical deflection are being completed as part of the Transport programme to align with the new Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre. The design which includes speed humps, a raised pedestrian/cycle crossing, buildouts and narrowing elements to the street is proposed to reduce the speed to align with expected operating speeds.
