Open for feedback

The play equipment at Ferrier Park and Toorak Reserve is at the end of its life, and is due for renewing.

Because the parks are so close to each other (375m), they've been allocated a shared budget for the renewals, of $184,970.

This means we won't be able to afford a full 'like-for-like' renewal of both playgrounds. Because of the size of the play spaces, we are proposing a full renewal of Ferrier Park play space and a smaller version of Toorak Reserve play space.

Earlier this year, we heard from people who use the play areas. They shared lots of ideas for what they’d like to see. We’re not able to include everything, but we’ve used their feedback to develop a plan for the new spaces.

We'd like to know what you think of the plans!

Ferrier Park

We're proposing to relocate the play space further from Nortons Road to move it away from the risk of falling branches from the gum tree, and from the edge of the sports field. The playground will remain visible from the sport fields, a safe distance from the road side and maintains good visibility from the road to play space. This will require the removal of two trees, which we will replace with two new trees at Ferrier and two at Toorak.

A new asphalt path will connect the play space to the toilets. We're planning to install a new picnic table beside the play space and to put in some native planting beside it.

The proposed play space features are:

  • A four-bay swing
  • Slide
  • Carousel
  • Modular equipment
  • Nature play, including playful edging and boulders.

Toorak Reserve

The plan proposes to group the play equipment together and locate the play space in a more central location within the reserve, bringing it further away from the neighbouring properties and also providing greater visibility from the road side.

It proposes some native planting/tree planting to create a shaded spot in the future to picnic or play.

The proposed play space features are:

  • A four-bay swing
  • Carousel
  • Nature play elements, including playful edging, balance logs, stepping logs and boulders.
