High School Old Boys' (HSOB) Rugby Club is applying for a lease to upgrade the old floodlights in the Hagley Park North sports fields. The club are current users of Hagley Park North, using it as a training ground and for competitive games. The existing lights border the sports field and are coming to the end of their life.

These new lights will service three rugby fields in Hagley Park North. HSOB Rugby are proposing to:

• Install six new floodlights and poles on Rugby Union field 4 and 5
• Install two new floodlights and poles on Rugby Union field 3
• Remove all existing floodlights and poles

HSOB Rugby will cover the cost to install the new floodlights and towers and remove the old floodlights.

The hours of operation will be the current training hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm to 8pm from March to October. There is potential for additional night games with the new lights.

Technical information:

• Individual flood lights – 1200w LED reflectors with 130 lumens per watt brightness,
• Floodlight poles – 18 metres from ground level
• Configuration of lights and base– two to eight floodlights per pole; floodlights will sit on a 1m square concrete base pad.

Our Environment Health Team have assessed the light spill plan from the new floodlights and confirmed they comply with the district plan for glare and light spill.
