We’ve been working with Rotary Ōtautahi Passport and the South Island Branch of Memorial Association of Polish Combatants in NZ (SPK) to develop a landscape plan for Little Poland Park.
The plan aims to enhance the park and create a sense of place for the Polish community and Oakbridge residents. Find out what's proposed and tell us what you think below!
You can read more about the decision to give Little Poland Park its name here (agenda item 8) and about the story of Little Poland here.

The plan includes:
- An additional picnic table in the south-east corner of the park.
- Some planter boxes to be built and maintained with flowers by Rotary Ōtautahi Passport. Initially, the plan is for three planter boxes in the north-east corner of the park, with the possibility of more boxes along the south side of the park in the future.
- An asphalt path around the park to make the picnic table and planter boxes more accessible.
- A planting border along the southern and eastern boundaries of the park, to be filled with red and white flowers (to represent the colours of the Polish flag).
- Five linden trees (Tilia Cordata) along the boundary of the playground (linden trees are significant in Polish culture).
- A drinking fountain on the northern boundary of the park.
- A second memorial oak tree next to the existing memorial oak.
- A peace pole at the western entrance to the park.
