Decision made

19 June 2025

The Christchurch City Council made a decision on the Moorhouse Avenue pedestrian safety improvements project

Council decided to approve the consulted option for the Moorhouse/Barbadoes/Waltham intersection and approve an alternative option for the Moorhouse/Madras/Gasson intersection, on 18 June 2025.

The alternative option for the Moorhouse/Madras/Gasson intersection was developed as a result of public feedback, which will retain the slip lane from Moorhouse Avenue on to Madras Street with the addition of a raised zebra crossing to ensure pedestrians and cyclists are safe when they cross Moorhouse Avenue.

View the plan for the alternative option here.

The meeting minutes will be added below when they are published.

You can also watch the decision being made below.

What happens next?

We expect construction at the two intersections to begin later this year.

The minutes for this meeting will be available up to two working days after the meeting
