Christchurch Heritage Festival 2024 - event applications open soon

24 April 2024

Join us for Christchurch Heritage Festival 2024

Christchurch Heritage Festival is on its way again from 12 to 28 October (Labour Day), bringing together a wide range of community events and activities.

The Christchurch Heritage Festival allows us to share the stories of the past that link us to this place. He tātai muka, he tātai tangata – weave together the strands, weave together the people.

Active Heritage - Sports, Recreation and Leisure

This year’s theme looks to explore our heritage in terms of sport, recreation and leisure. Let’s discover how these activities have shaped our diverse communities here in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū-Banks Peninsula and the wider Canterbury region.

Whilst it is encouraged, it is not compulsory to relate your heritage event to the theme.

Apply to host an event

We’re reaching out to community groups, businesses and individuals who may have a great idea for an event at this year’s Heritage Festival. For example it might be a heritage walk, talk, performance or tour.

If you would like to find out more about what’s involved in running an event, please visit our webpage. We are happy to talk about your event ideas before you apply, as well as how the application process works. To get in touch please email heritage@ccc.govt.nz

Christchurch Heritage Festival Community Grant Fund 2024 – please note information under Application process on the webpage.

If you know of any groups or organisations that may be interested in hosting an event as part of the Heritage Festival please share this email.

We welcome your applications to take part in this year’s Heritage Festival. Applications will be open online from 8 May to 10 June 2024.
