On Tuesday, 10 March, around 400–500 residents came together for a fun, family-friendly evening of activities, free kai, and community connection. About half of the attendees walked to the event, highlighting its local reach and accessibility.

The event was organised under the Burnside Bryndwr Community Network (BBCN), with support from the Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board and local partners. It was designed based on community feedback, giving residents more opportunities to connect and ensuring the location and timing worked for everyone.

Highlights included:

  • A wide range of activities for all ages
  • Free kai, including burgers and dumplings, provided by community groups with support from Kāinga Ora.
  • Opportunities to meet neighbours and local organisations
  • A friendly, welcoming atmosphere

The planning team is already looking ahead to 2027, building on this year’s success with some new ideas and improvements.
