Wrap up warm, grab your tamariki and check out ways to keep your family busy this weekend.

Vanuatu Bislama Language Week tree planting

Come along to Rutland Reserve this Sunday 27 July to celebrate the beginning of Vanuata Bislama Language Week. Around 300 native trees and plants will be put in the ground to mark the official launch of the Language Week.

The Vanuatu high commissioner, CEO of Ministry of Pacific peoples and Christchurch City Council staff will be attending. After the tree planting, everyone will move to a nearby community centre for kai and celebrations. Arrive at Rutland Reserve at 9am for the planting from 10-11am.

St Paul’s Mid Winter Celebration

Come along to St Paul’s mid winter Christmas themed celebration on Sunday morning. Take part in activities and games and enjoy food on site. Come along to this free celebration from 9.45 – 11.45am.

Saturday Storytimes

Join us at Tūranga for stories, songs, rhymes, crafts and fun at Saturday Storytimes. The whole family are welcome to attend this session which will be a half hour of storytimes followed by a fun craft.

Head to Tūranga on Saturday for the session from 10.30 – 11.30am. These sessions are held every Saturday during term time and are free, no bookings required.

The Vegan Night Mākete

Christchurch’s regular Vegan Night Mākete (market) showcases plant-based food and good with over 25 stalls offering a variety of savouries and sweets, plus musical entertainment.

Head down to Phillipstown Community Hub at 39 Nursery Road from 3.30 – 7pm Saturday to check it out.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Winter

Step into the world of Baroque music with an immersive concert experience designed especially for young children and their families. Explore the beauty of Vivaldi’s Winter through sound, movement and imagination.

Listen, dance, and play with scarves, streamers, organza fabric, and ribbons in a concert where children are free to move and respond to music in a joyful and interactive environment. Age groups between ages 0-8 are recommended in specific session times between 12 – 2.30pm. Find out more and grab a $10 ticket.
