Talking about our changing climate

11 August 2025

How do we address an issue as big as climate change?

That's the focus of the second Christchurch Conversation of 2025 - how we can communicate about climate change in ways that will empower people and governments to act.

Presented by Te Pūtahi Centre for Architecture and City-Making, Communicating Climate Change is being held from 6-7.30pm on Tuesday 19 August in the TSB Space at Tūranga.

A panel discussion chaired by Canterbury University Media and Communications Professor Donald Matheson will hear from the likes of Martha Jeffries (filmmaker and climate change communications specialist), Kera Sherwood-O’Regan (climate justice advocate and social change strategist) and Rose Challies (Terra Nova Foundation) among others.

Director Jessica Halliday says normalising conversations about climate change is key to moving forward.

“Climate change is something that affects us all, but people can feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to discuss it with a positive focus on achieving action. This Christchurch Conversation will consider a range of approaches to making our words count."

This is a free public event, but bookings are required. You can join in person or online.

The Christchurch Conversations 2025 programme is supported by the Christchurch City Council through the Sustainability Fund.
