Community Board Plan 2023-25

The Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board, after consulting with the community on its vision and priorities to advocate for, has adopted its Community Board Plan for the 2023-25 term to reflect its understanding of what matters locally.

Community Board Plans in Christchurch identify up to nine priorities, which the respective community boards for the different parts of the city will focus on during their elected term. The Plans guide decisions on local activities, projects and facilities and help the Board understand what their communities would like them to advocate for.

The Community Board Plan for the Papanui-Innes-Central Board area is at this link, and includes an introductory explanation of the Board’s main role, and the Te Haumako Te Whitingia Strengthening Communities Together Strategy, which the Board is committed to working alongside local communities to achieve the goals of, noting the four pillars of the Strategy as pictured below.

The Community Board Plan also reflects the Board’s commitment to supporting the Ōtautahi Christchurch Climate Resilience Strategy's climate goals and the Ōtautahi-Christchurch Urban Forest Plan.

For this term, the Board considered based on feedback that it would start by prioritising a range of issues relating to transport connectivity, safety initiatives, flooding, and intensification as relating to the Board area, as well as advocating for such particular projects as the revitalisation of Petrie Park, the Downstream Effects Management Plan for the Christchurch Northern Corridor, the future of Shirley Community Reserve, exploring a Papanui Youth Facility, and supporting a permanent home for Phillipstown Community Hub.
