The Community Board acknowledges that the issues related to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, primarily the stench, has had a significant impact on the local community. The Community Board also highlights that whilst the plant is located in the Waitai area, it is important infrastructure of metropolitan significance.

By making this one of the nine priorities during the last term, the Community Board provided significant resource to support the community and has advocated strongly for mitigations to be put in place. A dedicated resource has now been appointed to manage the community response to this issue and so the Board are not included this as one of the priorities this term. Regardless of this, the Board will continue to advocate just as strongly on behalf of the community on this issue until the new Wastewater Treatment Plant is operational.
