The Sumnervale Reserve on Sumnervale Drive is a Council owned recreation reserve. Recently we requested expressions of interest for the lease of Sumnervale Reserve for recreational activities to support our Physical Recreation and Sport Strategy goals.
We now propose to award a 10 year lease to Sumner Valley Riding School so they can continue to provide horse riding lessons to the community.
Proposed lease conditions
For a long time Sumner Valley Riding School have been operating from Sumnervale Reserve. The new lease will allow the Riding School to continue to use three paddocks and existing sheds on the reserve.
Hours of operation would remain the same, with staff on site anytime between 5am and 8pm each day.
Land lease area
The map below outlines the land area within the reserve included in the proposed lease.
Included are;
- two grazing blocks (blocks B and C)
- one riding block (block A)
- three existing sheds - one for hay, one a tack shed and an office/ locker room (block D).
Future development of the reserve
Sumner Valley Riding school have indicated they would like to build more facilities on site within the next few years. The proposed lease would allow them to build,
- A fenced in all weather riding arena providing a consistent surface to train on year round in block D.
- Two additional hay sheds, one next to the main buildings in block D and one on paddock block A.
- One additional equipment shed in block D (southern side).
