Daffodils are springing up all around us – now it’s time for you to spring into action and connect with your neighbours. There are chances to eat, greet, meet and create. Check out what’s new along with the reminders for our community’s regular get togethers. Our fortnightly bulletin tells you what’s on and reminds you about regular events. Please share with your networks.

Share Kai Café – every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – at The Others Café at 314 Lincoln Road until 3 September

Lunch with purpose and connect with neighbours by enjoying cuisine from Afghanistan & Pakistan (Mon.), Eritrea (Tues.) and Bhutan & Nepal (Weds.) Affordable, delicious meals, coffee and snacks are on offer.

Addington Park Working Bee – Saturday 6 September from 10am to 11am

Pruning – weeding – cleaning. Please bring garden tools, covered shoes and gardening gloves. Check Friends of Addington Park on Facebook for cancellations if wet.

Meet the Candidates! Mānuka Cottage Wednesday 10 September at 7pm

Take this opportunity to mingle with the candidates – come along and meet the local representatives for the Spreydon Ward, CCC Councillor, Community Board members, and ECAN representatives. Refreshments to follow introductions and question session.

Big news! The Addington Park celebration is coming up! Saturday 13 September at 2pm

Put this in your calendar! Mana whenua will join us to bless the new māra kai, followed by a community celebration and shared kai. This is a special moment for Addington –come along and be part of it. Please bring a plate of finger food to share.

Pop in your calendar! Addington Kids Market – Wednesday 1 October at Mānuka Cottage from 10am to 12 noon

Sell what you don’t need! Buy something new! All stalls run by young Addingtonians 5 to 17 years old with children under 14 needing to be supervised by an adult. Find out more by contacting Lucy on 021 0221 3478 or emailing her on youth@manukacottage.org.nz.

Kai Club – fortnightly on Thursday afternoons – meeting at either 31 Parlane Street or Mānuka Cottage
Cook up the kai together and take home a full vegetarian meal for your whānau. All welcome. $5 to cover ingredients. Hosted by Te Waerenga (formerly Addington Farm). Scan the QR code to join the Kai Club chat and sign up for the next event.

Next Rangatahi Craft Club – Water Painting – 4pm to 5.30pm at Mānuka Cottage – Friday 5 September

Pop along to Mānuka Cottage where we’ll be learning about water colour painting. There’s a craft session every second Friday during term time. For young people from year 7 to year 13. Gold coin donation appreciated.

Addington Playcentre Playgroup – every Wednesday during term time – 9.30am to 11.30am

Our playgroup, a place for you and your child to play, learn and grow together. At Conductive Ed, Addington School, Simeon Street entrance by Simeon Park.

‘The Common Room’ – every Wednesday 3pm to 5.30pm at Mānuka Cottage

A space for Addington rangatahi. Use the quiet room for study (free Wi-Fi), join an activity or just relax on the couches. Afternoon tea provided. All free! Drop in when it suits or come every week even over the school holidays.

(This is a supervised space for Addington rangatahi, Year 7-13. Those under 16 must have parent/career consent. Contact Lucy-Mary for further details – 02102213478)
