Comment from Orion

19 September 2025

As part of the decision for Bryndwr road renewal, the Community Board requested further response from Orion regarding future plans for work on Bryndwr Road in the next five years.

Orion have provided the following response.

“At your request, our Asset Management team has reviewed our forward works plan within the road reserve area on Bryndwr Road. Through this review we have identified several poles that are due to be replaced shortly, which may have an impact on the road reserve surface. We also have some work scheduled for the retightening of the overhead lines which won't have an impact on the road reserve surface.

Additionally, we have chosen to conduct a full assessment of all poles on Bryndwr Road between Ilam Road and Glandovey Road. Following this assessment, we will determine if any additional works are required. Our intention is to complete all identified activities within one work package to minimise disruption.

We have also asked Chorus (the telecommunications infrastructure company with whom we share some assets) to confirm any active services attached to these poles. This is to ensure all overhead works are coordinated and completed simultaneously.

Regarding our underground assets, no planned work is scheduled within the next five years. We can confirm there is an 11kV cable installed in the footpath, but there are no oil-filled cables on Bryndwr Road.

However, we would like to remind you that any fault-related or emergency activities will be addressed as required, which may or may not have an impact on the road reserve surface.

We hope this information is helpful. As always, our Assets team is happy to work with the Council’s planning team to enable the successful delivery of this project.”

Our project team has requested Orion keep us in the loop with the pole assessment and possible timings for pole replacements so we can coordinate construction works and minimise disruption to residents.
