Improvements coming for Corson Avenue

We’re planning a street renewal for Corson Avenue. While we’re developing the planned changes, we'd like to know what else residents think needs improving.

What’s included in a renewal:

• Replacing the current deep-dish gutters with a standard kerb and channel
• Resurfacing the road and footpath
• Upgrading the street lights

We’ll also consider:

• Reducing the width of the road
• The intersections within the renewal area - Waimea Terrace, Birdwood Avenue and Eastern Terrace intersections
• Street trees and landscaping
• Changes to the footpath
• Signs and road markings
• Traffic calming and other safety features such as cycle lanes and pedestrian crossings

We don’t have enough budget to do everything. Improvements like widening the road, ‘undergrounding’ powerlines and work on private property are not possible.

Orion (who manage powerlines) have advised us that they don't contribute toward the undergrounding of electricity infrastructure for Council projects. Orion do have their own portfolio of projects, which may include some undergrounding works, but this is separate to Council projects. Your feedback will help us shape the plan for the Corson Avenue renewal.

Later this year, when the draft plan is ready, we will share it here before the Waihoro Spreydon Cashmere Heathcote Community Board decides whether to approve the plan.
