Consultation open

We’ve heard from the community that it’s hard to cross Springfield Road so, we’re proposing some safety improvements. We want everyone to be able to safely walk, scooter, drive, cycle or bus where they want to go.

We're proposing to

  • Install a new pedestrian island on Springfield Road, outside the dairy
  • Realign and install a new pedestrian island at the existing crossing point on the Edgeware Road
  • Install a right turn bay and flush median on Springfield Road
  • Relocate the existing bus stop outside the dairy on Springfield Road to the south side of Edgeware Road
  • Install a new bus stop on the north side of Edgeware Road
  • Install five minute parking outside the dairy.

No stopping lines

No stopping lines will need to be installed near the new pedestrian crossing points to make sure that pedestrians and drivers can see one another. We’ll also install no stopping lines near the bus stops to make sure buses can get in and out of the stops safely. These changes will require approximately 20 parking spaces to be removed.

Next steps

The scale of this project is aligned with what we have budget for at the moment, we welcome all feedback but we are only able to make minor changes to the plans. All feedback will be presented to the Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board for a decision.
