Meeting details and decision making process

A staff report recommending approval of Glandovey Road and Idris Road safety improvements will be presented to the Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board on Monday 12 August 2024.

At this meeting, the Community Board let the report lie on the table (didn't make a decision at this time). Instead, they requested staff advice on additional options prioritising:

  • Retaining car parking by not proceeding with a marked cycle lane, except in high-risk locations
  • Encouraging lower speeds
  • Discouraging or prohibiting heavy vehicles from using Glandovey Road as a thoroughfare
  • Improving cyclist and pedestrian safety at intersections
  • Improving amenity value through landscaping, with particular attention to Brooksfield’s offer to pay for additional landscaping
  • Reviewing the phasing of the pedestrian crossing signals and the green turning arrow from Fendalton Road into Glandovey Road.

You can read the meeting minutes which include the formal resolutions at councillive.ccc.govt.nz

What happens next?

Staff will investigate further options, incorporating the Community Board's noted prioritisation. We will update submitters with next steps when these are known.
