Consultation open
We're planning a road renewal for Stourbridge Street. Typically road renewals include speed safety measures such as narrowing the street width, updating the road surface, footpaths, kerb and channels, drainage pipes, berms, streetlights, signs, road markings, and providing landscaping and street trees.
What we already know
In 2022 the ‘Safer Speed Neighborhoods' consultation we received submissions from some residents sharing concerns about the speed vehicles travelled along the street, and that there had been antisocial vehicle behaviour (donuts and burnouts) occurring.
Recently completed technical speed counts have confirmed vehicles are regularly travelling over the 30 km speed limit.
Our maintenance crews have also shared that rainwater ponds along Stourbridge Street during and after significant rainfall events.
Tell us what you see
Before we develop a plan we would like to know if there are any current issues you have noticed or if there's any part of the street features you would like changed.
We're also keen to know;
- Where you have noticed or have photos of flooding along the street
- Where you notice people like to cross the road
- How long you think cars should be allowed to park outside the Lyttelton Street corner shops
- If you would like to see landscaping and trees included in the plan
We can’t do everything, but now is your chance to let us know what you would like included in the plan and what you see occurring. Fill out the form below to share your views. You can also upload any photos of flooding in the submission form.
Next steps
When it's ready, we will share our draft plan for the renewal on our website, and with property owners who are directly impacted by the proposal - before the Community Board decides whether to approve the plan.
If there are significant changes proposed for Stourbridge Street, we may also ask for your feedback. If you would like to receive an email when our draft plan is ready, please provide feedback, or if you are just wanting to stay in the loop, you can ‘follow’ the project to receive updates by clicking the 'follow' button above.
