Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Groups receive Board support

The Strengthening Communities Fund supports community-focused organisations whose projects contribute to the strengthening of community wellbeing in the area.

The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board has allocated $531,745 in grants (including $165,000 of pre-committed multi-year funding) from its 2024-25 Strengthening Communities Fund to 60 groups who help foster a sense of community across the Community Board area.

Groups apply by setting out the projects that they are seeking funding for, and the Community Board considers all applications received before making decisions.

Some of the organisations who have received a grant are:

Canterbury Fiji Social Services Trust - $30,000 towards its collective operational and programme costs.

Papuni Boxing Ōtautahi Trust - $9,500 towards Rangatahi and Kotiro Programmes.

Hornby Community Care Trust (operating as Hornby Community Care Centre) - $45,000 towards its Hornby Community Connections project.

Riccarton Community Garden and Pātaka Trust - $5,000 towards Operational Costs.

Epic Sports Project NZ Charitable - $6,500 towards its Get Active Sports and Get Active Hip Hop programmes.

Lions Club of Halswell District Inc - $3,000 towards its annual Carols in the Quarry event.
