About the Community Board
The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board hold regular meetings that you’re welcome to attend. Anyone can ask to speak to the board about a local issue, activity or project.
The Community Board's main roles are to:
- Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of our community.
- Consider and report on all matters referred to us by the council, or any matter of interest to the board.
- Maintain an overview of services provided by the council within the community.
- Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

Come along to explore creative mending, upcycling, repurposing and more!
Breathe new life into your old, worn-out, or forgotten materials. Whether it’s transforming a bedsheet into a stylish tote bag or using visible mending techniques to repair a beloved but holey top.
Held on the third Wednesday of each month.
Free, drop-in session. No bookings required.

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you!
Halswell Quarry parkrun takes place every Saturday at 8am.

Matariki Fun Day
South Hornby School, 35 Amyes Road
A fun filled day of local schools’ cultural performance groups, poi making craft activity, craft stalls, chocolate wheel and much more! All in the school hall plus plenty of food vendors.
If the weather is fine, there will be bouncy castles outside.
