About the Community Board

The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board hold regular meetings that you’re welcome to attend. Anyone can ask to speak to the board about a local issue, activity or project.

The Community Board's main roles are to:

  • Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of our community.
  • Consider and report on all matters referred to us by the council, or any matter of interest to the board.
  • Maintain an overview of services provided by the council within the community.
  • Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

Storytime at Riccarton House

Bring the tamariki and a gold coin for books, songs and bubbles with Tracey inside the bougiest room for Storytime in Christchurch, the Fine Dining Room! Keep updated on Facebook.

While you’re there, we not check out the newly reopened boardwalk at Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush! The Riccarton Bush, gardens and grounds are open everyday from 6am to 8.30pm.

With the new school year just around the corner, our stationery swap is a great way to share any items you no longer use. Bring along your spare stationery and swap it for something you need, it’s all free.

Donations welcome in the lead-up to the event.

Take a stroll in the sun with us! Come along with Elephant and Friends on this interactive story walk.

Meet us at Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre library to begin with a fun craft activity you can then take along and enjoy during the walk

In the event of wet weather, this will be held inside.

Pool Party - Summer Palooza & Manu Competition

Round up your friends and whānau for a day packed with excitement at Te Hāpua Halswell Summer Pool!

Bounce, slip, slide, and splash on our slides, bouncy castles, GIANT inflatables, and obstacle course! Plus, enjoy face painting, and a free ice cream courtesy of Streets.

Manu Competition – Te Hāpua Halswell Summer Pool

Enter the manu competition (midday to 2pm) in one of four categories. At the end of the competition season, the top three queens or kings of the manu will be awarded an official trophy and prizes. There will also be spot prizes up for grabs throughout the competition.
