About the Community Board

The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board hold regular meetings that you’re welcome to attend. Anyone can ask to speak to the board about a local issue, activity or project.

The Community Board's main roles are to:

  • Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of our community.
  • Consider and report on all matters referred to us by the council, or any matter of interest to the board.
  • Maintain an overview of services provided by the council within the community.
  • Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

Family Fun Day

Seven Oaks School, 77 Murphys Road - Free event

Halswell Community Church, who run the Halswell youth connections programme at the hub are having their annual Family Funday! Come and enjoy a day of fun community interaction, good food, and countless activities including live music, horse riding and a pre-loved clothing stand. This year, a registered JP will be on site to verify all your documents for free. Please see the attached poster and keep updated on Facebook.

VIP Frames and Trusses Christmas Show Parade 2025

Canterbury Agricultural Park, Curletts Road

Free entry. Parade starts at 2pm.

The VIP Frames and Trusses Christmas Show Parade is a festival style event, with entertainment, an amusement park, a Christmas market, food vendors and large picnic areas for families to come and make a day of it and the Christmas Show Parade! Bring a picnic, or buy food there. Learn more.

DINOvember Soft Toy Sleepover

Drop your soft toy off at Te Hāpua Halswell Centre for a dinosaur sleepover and cheeky adventure at the library!

The librarians and dinosaurs will take good care of your special toy for the night. Pick them up the next afternoon and hear about their shenanigans at our special storytimes.

Special Information:
Thursday 27 November by 4pm. Drop off your soft toy at Te Hāpua for their sleepover.
Friday 28 November 4pm to 5pm. Pick up your soft toy at our special Storytimes.
