About the Community Board
The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board hold regular meetings that you’re welcome to attend. Anyone can ask to speak to the board about a local issue, activity or project.
The Community Board's main roles are to:
- Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of our community.
- Consider and report on all matters referred to us by the council, or any matter of interest to the board.
- Maintain an overview of services provided by the council within the community.
- Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

Ōtautahi Festival of Archaeology
Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, 83 Clyde Road
Entry is by koha. Get hands-on with history at this fun, family-friendly event for Archaeology Week 2026. Try your hand at excavation, take part in archaeology-themed activities and chat with real archaeologists about their artefacts and discoveries. Come along to visit stalls and a fantastic range of activities from Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Christchurch Archaeology Project, Archaeological consultants Underground Overground and South Island Archaeology, Canterbury Museum, Riccarton House & Bush, Christchurch City Libraries and the Department of Conservation.
