About the Community Board

The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board hold regular meetings that you’re welcome to attend. Anyone can ask to speak to the board about a local issue, activity or project.

The Community Board's main roles are to:

  • Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of our community.
  • Consider and report on all matters referred to us by the council, or any matter of interest to the board.
  • Maintain an overview of services provided by the council within the community.
  • Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

DINOvember @ Te Hāpua

This month is DINOvember at Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre, and we’re celebrating all things prehistoric. Join us at 11am for a Dino-riffic Storytimes of fun stories, songs and rhymes. Then at 11.30am our special guests from the Canterbury Museum will be here with real and replica fossils of dinosaur teeth, crabs, stegosaurus plates and even fossilised poo for you to handle! The Museum team will be ready to share their expert knowledge and answer any questions you might have. There will be colouring in and a badgemaker for you to make your very own dino badge! Everyone welcome. Free, no bookings required.
