About the Community Board

The Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board hold regular meetings that you’re welcome to attend. Anyone can ask to speak to the board about a local issue, activity or project.

The Community Board's main roles are to:

  • Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of our community.
  • Consider and report on all matters referred to us by the council, or any matter of interest to the board.
  • Maintain an overview of services provided by the council within the community.
  • Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups within the community.

Craft Snippets with Julie Clemett

Upper Riccarton Library, 71 Main South Road

Craft Snippets is a way to learn about artisan crafts from enthusiasts and experts who love to share. This month come along and hear from Julie Clemett.

Julie has been embroidering since a very young age, taught by her mother and grandmothers. Julie has progressed since then to now be a teacher of embroidery techniques throughout NZ.

Come along to hear Julie speak about her craft and after the talk, hear about craft books new to the library as well as chat about what is happening or coming up craft wise in and around Canterbury.

Te Tuna Tāone - Christchurch Envirokids

Riccarton House & Bush, 16 Kahu Road

Free event. Come along for a splashy, hands-on adventure where kids become freshwater explorers, learning all about our incredible native longfin eel (tuna) and how we can protect the rivers and streams flowing through our city.

Envirokids is a year-round programme run by Christchurch Envirohub Trust, providing environment themed activities for children.
