Waipuna Halswell Hornby Riccarton Community Board Workshops

As you may be aware the Council is looking at developing a Local Alcohol Policy to address alcohol harm-related issues in Christchurch and is seeking community feedback on options for inclusion in the policy. The Board is hosting a community workshop to outline the findings of research and the development of a Local Alcohol Policy and to provide an opportunity to discuss these. You are invited to attend the workshop that will be held at Riccarton Service Centre, 199 Clarence Street, at 1pm on Monday 3 March 2025.

The Council will also shortly be consulting on its 2025/26 Annual Plan and the Board will therefore include an annual plan presentation and discussion at the same workshop and you are invited to participate in this also.

The agenda for the workshop will be as follows:

1. Meeting welcome and H&S (10 min)

2. Local Alcohol Policy development (50 min)

  • Short presentation on the policy development and what research tells us about alcohol related harm in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula
  • Group discussion / activities on options to gather your views to help inform Community Board feedback

3. Annual Plan consultation (50 min)

  • Short presentation on what is proposed for the Annual Plan
  • Q&A to answer your questions and help inform yours and the boards submissions

4. Summary of learnings throughout the meeting (10 min)

5. Meeting close

Please note that you are welcome to attend for either or both presentations. Please advise whether you plan to attend by emailing halswell.hornby.riccarton@ccc.govt.nz
