Final Call: Community Service Award Nominations Close April 6

2 April 2025

Time is running out to nominate an outstanding volunteer for a 2025 Community Service Award! Nominations close at 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, so don’t miss this chance to recognise someone who has made a significant contribution to the community.

The Community Service Awards acknowledge individuals and groups who have dedicated their time and efforts to voluntary service. Whether it’s in youth work, support for older adults, education, culture, sport, church, or general community service, these awards celebrate those who go above and beyond to make our communities better places to live.

Nominations have been open since Friday, March 7, and apply to the following Community Boards:

Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote
Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton
Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood
Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood

How to Nominate

Recognising a deserving volunteer is simple. Follow these steps:

  1. Find two people who can support the nomination and are familiar with the nominee’s contributions.
  2. Gather information on how the nominee has benefited the community, their achievements, and how long they’ve been volunteering.
  3. Collect supporting documents, such as letters of support or other evidence of their service.
  4. Submit your nomination online or download the nomination form to complete and send in before the deadline.
These awards provide an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to those who selflessly dedicate their time and passion to helping others, often with little recognition. If you know someone who deserves to be honoured for their service, take action today before nominations close this Sunday! For more information or to submit a nomination, visit here.
