What are Changemakers?
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CHANGEMAKERS!
We are ready to launch our Rangatahi Changemaker project in May 2024 and we want to hear from you.
The Changemakers will be a passionate group rangatahi from across the east of Otautahi Christchurch who help share their ideas, knowledge and opinions on things that matter most to them. This the perfect opportunity to make the change you want to see in your community, connect with other young people from across the east, develop your skills a leader and help make positive changes in the east.
You can be whatever kind of Changemaker you want to be but here are some things you might be able to achieve:
- Build youth ownership and empowerment of projects that you and your fellow changemakers identify as a priority.
- Increase the opportunity and ease for young people to engage in Council decision making.
- Develop and enhance your leadership skill set and strengths.
- Allocate funding resource to projects/events/groups that you see as a priority.
How to become a Changemaker
To be eligible to be a Changemaker you must meet the following criteria:
-Be aged between 12-17 years as of 1 January 2024
-Either live, go to school or work in the East of Christchurch
-Be able to attend monthly meetings from 4pm-5pm (Days to be confirmed)
-Be open to working with and sharing ideas with other Rangatahi and the wider community
If you meet all of the above criteria, we would love to hear from you at our upcoming Information night on the 7th of May @ Community Boardroom New Brighton, Corner of Union and Beresford Street from 4pm-6pm.
