Building on the approved South New Brighton Reserves concept plan from 2021, proposed changes and improvements for South New Brighton Park have been combined into an updated development plan for construction. The updated plan builds on the original concept plan and aims to connect the park with the wider community. These changes include:
- Two new pump tracks. The pump track designs are simple, aiming to compliment the nearby pump tracks.
- A new pathway to be constructed along the existing bund and road edge. This is intended to connect with the estuary-edge pathway.
- New tree planting.
- Changes to carparking near the South New Brighton community centre and near the play space. Some car parks will be redistributed between the car park outside the South Brighton community centre and outside the play space.
- New facilities including a second BBQ area, and new picnic tables.
The tree planting and pump tracks have been spaced away from property boundaries to make sure they don't cause issues for neighbours.
