Consultation closed
Consultation on Arthur Street has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from 25 March - 7 April 2024. You will be able to read their feedback and the staff recommendation once an agenda is available for the Waipuna Halswell Hornby Riccarton Community Board meeting, which we expect to be in May / June 2024.
What's planned for Arthur Street?
We are adjusting the parking on Arthur Street to make it safer and more accessible for everyone.
Making it easier to find a park
We know that the current time-limited parking is not working. We want to make it easier for people to find a park when they need to. To meet increased parking demand, we are planning on removing the existing timed parking restriction signage. This proposal will result in an increase in parking opportunities overall at school pick up and drop off time.
Increasing safety and access
We are also planning on extending the yellow no-stopping lines at the curves in the road outside Middleton Grange School and at the Hansons Lane and Middleton Road intersections to improve visibility for vehicles and pedestrians. This means drivers and pedestrians will have more room to navigate and greater visibility at key pinch points on the street.
P60 parking
We are introducing three 60 minute timed car parks on the southwest side of Arthur Street to assist short term visitors to the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China.
Before we go ahead with this, we want you to view the plans below and let us know if there's anything we've missed.
