Te Ara Kuaka Brighton Mall is being upgraded
Tell us what you think about the proposed upgrades.
The speed limit on the pedestrian section of Brighton Mall is currently legally 30km/h, where vehicle access is restricted to delivery/service vehicles and emergency services.
Proposed speed limit change: from 30km/h to 10km/h in Brighton Mall.
We’re proposing to lower the speed to 10km/h in the pedestrian section of the mall to make it safer for everyone, regardless of how they're travelling.
Part of the proposed Brighton Mall upgrades will include changing the pedestrian section to a shared zone. This means vehicle access to Brighton Mall will be restricted to delivery/service vehicles and emergency services, but bikes and skateboards would be allowed on the pedestrian section of Brighton Mall.
The other section of Brighton Mall will stay at 30km/h. The bollards at the western end of Brighton Mall will remain to restrict general vehicle access.Map of speed limit change
