Decision made
Consultation on Sumner sports pavilion has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from 3 September to 6 October 2024.
During this time, we heard from 35 individuals. You can read their feedback and find out how this influenced the Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere Heathcote Community Board's decision to approve the lease renewal and rebuild of Sumner Sports pavilion, by clicking on the link in the box above.
The Sumner Sports Pavilion Inc (Sumner Cricket Club and Sumner Rugby Club) have been based at St Leonards Park since 1886, and they have applied to renew their lease.
Their current pavilion building no longer fits the Club's needs so as part of their application to renew their lease, Sumner Sports Pavilion Inc are also seeking permission to remove their current pavilion and construct a new one.
The new pavilion would be in the same location but slightly larger than the existing one, so the cricket nets would be relocated to the west side of the park. A new path would also be added for access to the playground.
Any costs would be covered by the Sumner Sports Pavilion Inc.
