Community board three-year plans need your input

4 March 2026

Consultation is open for the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board Plan 2026-28 until 22 March 2026.

Have we got the priorities right for your neighbourhood? Help shape your future with Christchurch's community boards.

Community boards focus on local issues and advocate for their communities when they are affected by the city-wide decision making of the Council.

Christchurch City Council has six community boards covering the city and Banks Peninsula and they need to hear your priorities to help focus their draft three-year plans.

Early in each election cycle, community boards outline their visions and priorities for the next three years, how they will be achieved and how progress will be measured.

“Community boards put democracy into action for our city’s neighbourhoods,” says the Council’s Head of Community Support and Partnerships, John Filsell.

“Board members have been elected to be voices for their local community and make sure people to have a say in the decisions affecting them where they live.

“These plans will guide the board’s focus on local activities, projects and facilities, so it’s important you put forward your ideas now,” says Mr Filsell.

Community board plans are important as the Council will regard them as key strategic documents to be included in the preparation of wider Council planning budgeting processes including the Long Term Plan.

Five of the six Christchurch community boards consist of three local wards, with the sixth board, Banks Peninsula, represented by one ward.

The six boards are:

· Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood

· Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton

· Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central

· Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote

· Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula

· Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood

The ward and community board areas can be found on the Council’s online map. Have your say on draft community board plans by visiting the Council’s Kōrero mai | Let's talk webpage.
