Thanks to everyone who submitted feedback on this project

We received a total of 31 submissions about the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Planting Plan, from 26 individuals and the following organisations:

  • Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Network
  • Friends of Coronation Reserve
  • Friends of Waimōkihi Restoration Group (Centennial Park)
  • Friends of Riverlaw Esplanade Reserve
  • The River Ōpāwaho (Church)

What you told us

Common topics raised during early conversations and consultation were:

  • To consider including some more planting sites in specific areas
  • To consider changing some of the proposed Type A (Low planting) and Type B (Low planting and shrubs) plantings to Type C (Forest mix) or Type D (Canopy and Low planting) plantings
  • To consider including more specific information within the planting guidelines
  • Retain existing access to the river in some specific areas
  • Ensure the planting retains existing river views in some specific areas

Meeting details and decision making process

A staff report recommending approval of the updated Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Planting Plan will be presented to both the Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board and The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board at separate decision meetings.
