What matters most for Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote

27 October 2023

We’re putting together our next 10-year budget. To help us get it right, we’ve been talking with the community about what matters most – and the results are in!

In the Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote community board area, you've told us your top five priorities are:

  • Climate change
  • Travel choice
  • Drinking water
  • Parks and gardens
  • Roads and footpaths

Your feedback has shown us that while every single issue is someone’s top priority, there are some issues that are more important to more people. There are tough choices ahead – we can’t do everything and keep rates increases down at the same time. We need to make trade-offs, and our challenge for this Long Term Plan will be finding the balance.

You’ll get the chance to tell us whether we have the balance right during public consultation on our draft Long Term Plan 2024–2034, in March next year. The draft plan will set out the Council’s activities, services and budget over the next decade.

Find out more about what matters most across the city and Banks Peninsula, and the development of the Long Term Plan.
